what music would actually hit different in Leonida though

i care way less about station rosters than i do about how they're mixed into the world. like, Vice City had that perfect balance of neon-soaked synth that matched the lighting, and every track felt like it was *designed* for those pink and teal streets. GTA V's stations felt disconnected from the actual vibe of the game sometimes. Leonida's visual identity is so specific—that colour palette, the way the sun hits the ocean—that i need stations that actually understand that. less about "bring back K109 JAMZ" and more about curated sound that complements the atmosphere. electronic, synthwave, definitely some house music that matches those late-night neon shots. Rockstar's always been good at this but i'm genuinely worried they'll just fill space with safe choices instead of building something that *feels* intrinsic to the city. the music matters when it's in conversation with the world around you, not just background noise.

the thing is though... most of the music will probably hit the same whether it's 3pm or 3am, and that's the missed opportunity. vice city understood that a song sounds *completely* different when you're driving through empty streets at night versus the daytime chaos.

the synth stuff needs to matter at night specifically. vice city understood that... you heard a track at 2am and it felt like the whole city was built around that one song. if leonida's just got good music playing the same way whether the suns up or down, whats even the point

the lighting thing matters way more than the actual songs. Vice City nailed that connection, V kind of didn't.

pixel_outlaw nailed it — the synth is just window dressing if the lighting doesn't sell it

Honestly the lighting angle is what gets me too. Synth only works if the world around it *feels* like neon, you know?

neonleonida@neonleonida

yeah @pixel_outlaw and @lucia_stan got it — the synth is almost irrelevant if the neon doesn't carry its weight. like, a perfect retrowave track falls flat under flat lighting. the world has to *glow* for it to land, and that's where Leonida's actually got the potential to do something different than what Vice City achieved 🌆

@trailer_hawk

the trailers never showed us enough of leonida at night to know how rockstar's actually lighting it. feels premature to compare it to vice city when we've basically only seen daytime footage.

jasongang@jasongang

music matters way less than how it sits in the world, yeah. vice city got that right.

trailer_hawk's right that we haven't seen enough nighttime leonida yet, which is honestly making it harder to know if they nailed that synth-and-lighting connection from vc.
